During these dark days before Christmas we decorate our house with lights to keep the darkness out. Surrounded by family and friends, we look back on a year in which a lot has happened. We made new friends, changed jobs and some of us had a total life change this year. Jump aboard my little time machine and let’s look back on a year of changes…
NEW YEARS EVE 2013
Together with my wife Wendy and our newborn baby Faya, we looked back on the previous year and made plans for the next year. We both know that a lot is going to change with a baby in our mids. We are both entrepreneurs and that means that we have to check our time schedules carefully. Wendy has her own hair salon. When she is working in the salon, I’m working at home and looking after little Faya.
With our little girl Faya now in our mids, we had a lot of sleepless nights. I had this experience before with my oldest son Keanu, but for Wendy this was the first. It’s just wonderful to see how nature can change people into a mother and father.
No matter what time it is, when the baby has it’s needs, you just give it to them. Sure it’s hard to get out of your warm bed to go downstairs and make that bottle of warm milk, but when that little girl looks at you with those big eyes and throws the most lovely smile ever at you…..everything’s forgotten.

NIGHT PHOTOGRAPHY WORKSHOPS
Beginning 2014, I started with the night photography workshops in different major cities in The Netherlands. Below are photos from Arnhem and Rotterdam where one of the first workshops started. I did this together with my buddy Gerrit. After a while we decided to give these workshops independently. Gerrit was one of the first who joined my HDR workshop and we became good friends. He’s more specialised in portraits, but his night photography is just awesome.
During these dark days before Christmas, I look back with great joy to the Photokina 2014. Spending two days in Cologne changed my career completely. The Photokina is awesome for meeting new cool friends from all over the world and great for networking. It’s here where the first steps into partnership with Nikon started.
THANK YOU FOR BEING PART OF IT
